About your Los Angeles headshot photography session

Your in studio LA headshot photography session will take from one to two hours, depending on the number of looks you have selected. If makeup is being done in the studio prior to the shoot, additional time will need to be allotted.
Generally speaking, you want to select clothing that does not “steal the show”. Your headshot is to showcase you, not your wardrobe. Solid colors are usually better than busy patterns and stripes. Select clothing that best compliments your skin tones. Stand in front of a mirror and hold them up to you in good light to compare.
Bring more outfits than you need. For example, if you are doing two looks, bring at least 4 options for clothing. Scarfs, hats, jackets can all enhance or modify a “look”. During your session, we will make selections as to the clothing options and backgrounds that will work well together and make you look your best.
As we are shooting, your photos are downloading onto a computer and coming up on the monitor as they are taken. This allows us to work together to ensure we are getting what we both believe is the best work we can do and make adjustments in poses, lighting etc. At the end of the session you will be able to view all photos on the computer and choose the images you want to have touched up. You will not have to make an additional trip to the studio to view your photos at a later date.
Makeup can be cared for in three different ways:
- It can be applied yourself prior to arriving at the studio. Bring touch up makeup, your hair brush, etc. if you select this option. (note, it is usually better to select one of the professional options as good pros understand how to apply makeup to contour your face and compliment your skin tones).
- It can be done at one of the cosmetic centers in the shopping malls. You can work with the makeup artist to get the look you feel will help you sell yourself in your pictures. For actress headshots, you usually don’t want to go overly heavy on makeup as you would in fashion or glamor pictures. Ask for a more natural look. What your clients will want to see is how you look.
- Have your makeup done in the studio prior to the shoot. While the most expensive, this is usually the best option. I am able to oversee the makeup to ensure it is going to be what we need for the shoot in the environment where the photos will be taken. There is an additional charge of $150 – $200 to have makeup done in studio.Your shoot will be a fun, relaxed experience. I work with my clients to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera and to bring out their best.
If your work schedule makes it difficult to schedule your headshot photo shoot during business hours, after hours shoots during evenings and weekends are also available at a slight extra charge.
A 50% deposit is required to reserve your appointment. The balance is due at the beginning of the shoot. I can accept cash, check or credit card.
