Los Angeles Actor Headshot Photographer Pricing & Packages

At Los Angeles Headshot Photographer, we understand how important your headshot is.  We don’t skimp on quality or pass it off as “just a headshot shoot.”  We work with you carefully to determine how best to present you and showcase not only your appearance, but your talent and ability.  After all, whether or not you get called for the audition rests heavily on your headshot!

As an award winning photographer with over two decades of professional experience. I understand what qualities are being looked for in professional actor head shots and work with you to help you feel relaxed in front of the camera, draw out your personality and present it in images that will get you booked.

Headshots can be done on simple studio backgrounds (preferred by some agents), more “natural” type surroundings within the studio itself, or at outdor locations. Note that a “look” is a particular hair style, set of clothing and background/setting. About 100 photos are taken on each look as we work to get the best pose, emotion, light.

Note: While there are industry accepted standards for actor headshots, I’ve found many agents may have special instructions as to the feel of the photos, and what they want the images to communicate based on the markets they work in and what they feel will best sell you. I am more than happy to discuss the shoot with your agent should you feel this is beneficial. The photoshoot is for YOU.

Environmental Actor Headshots

While most headshot photographers in Los Angeles tend to go with simple studio backgrounds as their only offering, headshots taken in an outdoor environment can be used to better showcase your talent and personality.

This should be discussed with your agent. In these shoots, the background is kept non distracting and the focus is on you, your personality and talent.

Regarding Pricing

Behind any good photographer is years, decades of work to master the art and craft of photography. You are a professional. Shouldn’t the photographer you commission to take your acting headshots be just as professional as you are?

Two common misconceptions regarding professional photography are 1. Anybody can do it and 2. It only takes a fraction of a second to take a picture. Assuming either of these is true will result in failure.

Thanks to cheap digital cameras, and cell phone cameras it is true that anybody can take a picture. But to call that person a photographer is comparable to stating that a person with a pocket calculator is a CPA. The photos taken by such a person can do considerable harm to your professional image and your business.

The amount of time that pressing the button, or even the amount of time that the subject is in front of the camera respresent such a tiny fraction of the total time required to create and deliver your images that it almost wouldn’t show on a graph. A portrait session requires planning, setup, consultations, the shoot itself, preparing images for preview, touch up of selected images and preparation for online and print uses.

That said, the fastest way to realize you are dealing with someone who does not have the skill and experience to deliver the quality of photos you need is a price that indicates he has not himself learned that it takes more than a second to take a professional photo. This will be reflected in unrealistically cheap prices.  Choose your photographer wisely. Ineffective photography can ruin your marketing efforts.
